NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDMENT

CITY OF RIGGINS, IDAHO

 

            Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Riggins, Idaho will hold a public hearing for consideration of a proposed amendment to Local Option Tax Ordinance #174.  Said hearing to be held at City Hall, 126 N. US#95, Riggins, Idaho, at 7:00 p.m., April 14, 2008.  At said hearing all interested persons may appear and show cause, if any they have, why said proposed ordinance amendment should not be adopted.

 

            The following amendment is being proposed to add the definition of “Caterer” and to amend and clarify the definition of  “Prepared Meals”, which are subject to the municipal Local Option Tax:

 

(A)   Definition Added:  

 

CATERER:  The term means any Person, as defined in Section 2 Definitions, who furnishes prepared food or meals, prepared and/or cooked within the City of Riggins for consumption.  Catered services include food or meals prepared for consumption by commercial caterers, deli’s, bakeries, grocery stores, vendors or similar businesses operating within the City.

 

(B)   Definition Amended:

PREPARED MEALS:  The term means any food or meals prepared and sold by restaurants, cafes, and bars operating within the City.  Prepared meals also include food and meals prepared for consumption by catering services,                         

for consumption  within the City of Riggins.  Prepared meals do not include pre-packaged, or bulk foods or meals, not intended to be consumed on premise, which are sold incidental to grocery, deli or gasoline sales.

A copy of the proposed ordinance amendment, in detail, is available at City Hall for inspection during regular office hours.  Citizens and senior citizens are encouraged to attend and comment.  City Hall is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Anyone desiring accommodations for disabilities, please contact the City Hall 628-3394 at least 48 hours prior to the public hearing.
