of Public Hearing on Requested Fee Increase
Walco, Inc. has requested that the City of Riggins increase its monthly fee collections for garbage service, beginning January 1, 2008, by amounts that exceed one hundred and five percent (105%) of the monthly fee revenue from the previous year. The proposed fee increase is $.75 per residential customer, in addition to the $.75 increase approved to begin October 1, 2007, which together would total a 10% increase in fees. Walco has also requested that the commercial accounts be raised to a minimum of $24.50 per cart, for the first cart required, with each additional cart being $20.25. All citizens are invited to attend a public hearing on the increased fee request on November 12, 2007, at 7:00 pm in the City Hall Council Chambers, Riggins City Hall, 126 N. US#95, Riggins, Idaho, and have the right to provide written or oral comments concerning the fee increase.
Alternate proposals for the collection and disposal of garbage will also be discussed at that public hearing, including:
(1) Elimination of curbside service and the Riggins City collection of garbage, relinquishing the responsibility to Idaho County, using rural dumpster sites, with fee added to the property tax
(2) Pursue alternate garbage disposal companies such as LakeShore Disposal from McCall.
City Hall and the Council Chambers are accessible to persons with disabilities. For accessibility arrangements, please contact the Riggins City Hall at (208) 628-3394 at least 48 hours in advance of the public hearing.
Dated this 26th day of October, 2007.
