RIGGINS CITY COUNCIL
September 5, 2017 – 9:00 a.m.
A special meeting of the Riggins City Council was called to order by Mayor Glenna McClure. Purpose of the special meeting was to discuss the hiring of a new Public Works Director. Councilors present were Friend, Akins and Miller. Mayor McClure reported that Jonny Wilson had resigned from the City Council on August 28, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. in order to be considered for the Public Works Director position.

The Council reviewed the applicants for the Public Works Director position who were interviewed August 29th: Dan Wash, Jim Folwell and Jonny Wilson. Mayor McClure appointed Dan Wash to the position at an hourly rate of $19.50. Motion was made to Friend to accept the appointment by Mayor McClure of Dan Wash; seconded by Akins. Voting yea, Akins, Miller and Friend. No nays; motion carried.
Dan currently holds both Wastewater Treatment III and Wastewater Collection I licenses, and will need to test for Water licensure as soon as he meets qualifications.
The Council discussed the Public Works schedule; it was decided that an 8 hour work day including Saturday and Sunday totaling 40 hours per week was needed in order to complete projects during the week when both John and Dan are working, and to work on projects at the Treatment Plant on Friday through Monday.
Mayor McClure requested the Clerk contact Dan about the City’s offer, and to schedule a meeting September 8th in order to provide a tour of the city facilities and discuss expectations. Mayor McClure also requested that the Clerk send out letters to the other two applicants advising them of the decision.
DIVE TEAM: Councilor Akins reported that Idaho County Sheriff’s Department has started diving in rivers for vehicles, etc. Akins would like to see the Sheriff’s Department communicate with the Salmon River Dive Team when they plan on diving. Mayor McClure indicated she would contact Sheriff Giddings and discuss the issue with him.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
